SK-II Joins Procter & Gamble's Billion-Dollar Club

November 26, 2012: 12:00 AM EST
Procter & Gamble’s SK-II line of skincare products became one of the company’s billion-dollar brands in April 2012. The brand’s history began in the 1970s when scientists in Japan discovered Pitera, a blend of vitamins, amino acids, and other minerals with therapeutic and anti-aging effects on the skin. Scientists discovered that the sake fermentation process produces the compound as a natural by-product.
