Brazil's Taxman Pays Natura A Visit, Leaves Huge Fine Behind

Brazil’s government imposed a $235 million fine on local cosmetics company Natura for alleged tax avoidance. The country’s Receita Federal told Natura that the fine includes fines and interest on payments for due tax payments from as far back as 2008. Faced with a slowing economy, Brazil has launched measures to increase tax revenues, including a closer look at companies’ tax returns.
